Tehillim (Psalms) 130:1b-4
ADONAI, I call to you from the depths;
hear my cry, Adonai!
Let your ears pay attention
to the sound of my pleading.
Yah, if you kept a record of sins,
who, Adonai, could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
so that you will be feared.
From the moment I stepped openly into the selfishness of my heart and sinfully put myself before God in my life till the time I understood my failure in my obedience to ADONAI, there has not been enough time in my life to earn my way back into His loving grace. Only by His forgiveness through the blood shed by Yeshua could that part of my life be blotted out and my name remain in the Lamb’s book of Life. Lord what can I do but like David praise Your holy name! Let Your ears hear my thankfulness for Your forgiveness as well. I ask this in Yeshua’s name, amen.
There was in Yerushalayim a man named Shim’on. This man was a tzaddik, he was devout, he waited eagerly for God to comfort Isra’el, and the Ruach HaKodesh was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Ruach HaKodesh that he would not die before he had seen the Messiah of ADONAI. Prompted by the Spirit, he went into the Temple courts; and when the parents brought in the child Yeshua to do for him what the Torah required, Shim’on took him in his arms, made a b’rakhah to God, and said,”Now, ADONAI, according to your word,your servant is at peace as you let him go;for I have seen with my own eyes your yeshu’ah,which you prepared in the presence of all peoples—a light that will bring revelation to the Goyimand glory to your people Isra’el.”Yeshua’s father and mother were marveling at the things Shim’on was saying about him. Shim’on blessed them and said to the child’s mother, Miryam,”This child will cause many in Isra’el to fall and to rise,he will become a sign whom people will speak against;moreover, a sword will pierce your own heart too.All this will happen in order to reveal many people’s inmost thoughts.”There was also a prophet named Hannah Bat-P’nu’el, of the tribe of Asher. She was a very old woman—she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage and had remained a widow ever since; now she was eighty-four. She never left the Temple grounds but worshipped there night and day, fasting and praying. She came by at that moment and began thanking God and speaking about the child to everyone who was waiting for Yerushalayim to be liberated.
This was a time of upheaval and oppression for the nation of Israel. After winning their independence against the Seleucid empire they were once again oppressed by the Roman empire. Politically people were looking for the restoration of David’s throne. Yet even among this chaos and political infighting there was faithful who like Shim’on and Hannah understood that Yeshua had come to just reconcile a nation state but all of humanity back to ADONAI. It is the same for us today, while many look to a political solution to solve the worlds ills around us, it is a matter of the heart opening to the kingship of God in our lives that will bring the shalom that we desire. Lord let me be like Shim’on and Hannah looking always for the fulfillment of Your Word. I ask this in Yeshua’s name, amen.
“The Mighty One has done great things for me!
Indeed, his name is holy; and in every generation
he has mercy on those who fear him.
Even as Miryam expressed her trust in ADONAI to her relative Elisheva, how comforting in is to me to know there is always a remnant in every generation that fear God. May times I start to get depressed and discouraged by all the chaos and hatred that has exploded it seems lately and then I get refreshed and take heart in remembering, like Miryam that ADONAI holds us in His hand so that no harm that befalls us will lead to tearing down as it was intended but to building up so that we reap only the good in life for trusting God. Lord let me cling to You as the Rock of my salvation just as David did all the years that Sha’ul hunted him. Let me have the eyes that can see Your hand in all things. I ask this in Yeshua’s name, amen.
Yechezck’el (Ezekiel) 44:5
ADONAI said to me, “Human being, pay attention; see with your eyes and hear with your ears everything I tell you about all the regulations of ADONAI’s house and about all its Torah; pay attention to who can enter the house and who must be excluded from the sanctuary.
God demands our attention so that we might understand that there is only one way to reconcile ourselves back to Him so we may one day stand in His presence and worship Him. Failure to do so can mean only one thing, exclusion forever. Lord let me always stay within the teachings of Your Word. I ask this in Yeshua’s name, amen.
Next I saw a great white throne and the One sitting on it. Earth and heaven fled from his presence, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, both great and small, standing in front of the throne. Books were opened; and another book was opened, the Book of Life; and the dead were judged from what was written in the books, according to what they had done. The sea gave up the dead in it; and Death and Sh’ol gave up the dead in them; and they were judged, each according to what he had done. Then Death and Sh’ol were hurled into the lake of fire. This is the second death—the lake of fire. Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was hurled into the lake of fire.
None of us will be able to stand before ADONAI and make excuses for our actions in our lives. All will be known and judged, each according to what we have done. It is the condition of our hearts, whether we followed the mitzvah’s of ADONAI and consecrated ourselves to Him by accepting the sacrifice of Yeshua and trusting in the sacrifice that will keep our name from being blotted out of the book of life. Lord let everything I do in my life show Your glory. I ask this in Yeshua’s name, amen.
Yechezk’el (Ezekiel) 37:11-14
Then he said to me, “Human being! These bones are the whole house of Isra’el; and they are saying, ‘Our bones have dried up, our hope is gone, and we are completely cut off.’ Therefore prophesy; say to them that Adonai ELOHIM says, ‘My people! I will open your graves and make you get up out of your graves, and I will bring you into the land of Isra’el. Then you will know that I am ADONAI—when I have opened your graves and made you get up out of your graves, my people! I will put my Spirit in you; and you will be alive. Then I will place you in your own land; and you will know that I, ADONAI, have spoken, and that I have done it, ‘says ADONAI.”
The final part of Yechezk’el’s vision is the redemption from death by accepting the Ruach HaKodesh, the Holy Spirit of ADONAI into ourselves. It is then that God raises us up from eternal death to eternal life in Him. Our souls are quickened, and we know there is a God in Isra’el who call to all to be grafted into His salvation. Lord let the quickening happen and let this world turn back to You to praise Your holy name. I ask this in Yeshua’s name, amen.
After these things, I saw another angel coming down from heaven. He had great authority, the earth was lit up by his splendor. He cried out in a strong voice,”She has fallen! She has fallen!Bavel the Great!She has become a home for demons,a prison for every unclean spirit,a prison for every unclean, hated bird.”For all the nations have drunk of the wineof God’s fury caused by her whoring—yes, the kings of the earth went whoring with her,and from her unrestrained love of luxurythe world’s businessmen have grown rich.”Then I heard another voice out of heaven say:”My people, come out of her!so that you will not share in her sins,so that you will not be infected by her plagues,
Sin as represented by Bavel the Great has one purpose, to remove us from the presence of ADONAI. It is only by accepting the blood of Yeshua as a substitute can we be free of the price that is demanded of us for our sin and free from the quicksand that is a sinful life. Then we can come out of this wicked place and walk again among the beauty of creation in union with ADONAI just as Adam and Havah in the beginning.
Dani’el (Daniel) 3:1-7
N’vukhadnetzar the king had a gold statue made, ninety feet high and nine feet wide, which he set up on the plain of Dura, in the province of Bavel. Then N’vukhadnetzar the king summoned the viceroys, prefects, governors, judges, treasurers, counselors, sheriffs and all the provincial officials to assemble and come to the dedication of the statue which N’vukhadnetzar the king had set up. The viceroys, prefects, governors, judges, treasurers, counselors, sheriffs and all the provincial officials assembled for the dedication of the statue which N’vukhadnetzar the king had set up. They stood in front of the statue that N’vukhadnetzar had set up; and a herald proclaimed, “Peoples! Nations! Languages! You are ordered that when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, harp, zither, lute, bagpipe and the rest of the musical instruments, you fall down and worship the gold statue that N’vukhadnetzar the king has set up. Whoever does not fall down and worship is to be thrown immediately into a blazing hot furnace.” Therefore, when all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, pipe, harp, zither, lute and the rest of the musical instruments, all the peoples, nations and languages fell down and worshipped the gold statue that N’vukhadnetzar the king had set up.
It doesn’t matter who designs it, creates it, orchestrates it, or lords over it, if it does not line up with the Word of God it is idolatry. Too many of us believers have given up the Word for entertainment for a couple of hours to make us feel good. Lord let me always seek you even if the whole world is following another way. Let me always seek and understand Your truth which is the foundation of creation. I ask this in Yeshua’s name, amen.
Dani’el (Daniel) 2:24
So Dani’el went to see Aryokh, whom the king had charged with destroying the sages of Bavel, and said to him, “Don’t destroy the sages of Bavel! Bring me before the king, and I will give the king the interpretation.”
Dani’el’s intercession with ADONAI gave him the knowledge to meet the demands of King N’vukhadnetzar while at the same time preserved the lives of the magicians, sorcerers and soothsayers who did not know God. This overflowing bounty of salvation that God provided Dani’el after his prayers of intercession and those of his friends is the same overflowing bounty, we as believers should share it difficult times. It is by our witness in seeking salvation for all God will be glorified in our service to Him just as King N’vukhadnetzar ordered all to sacrifice to ADONAI. Lord open my heart to share with everyone the love You have provided through Your mercy in that Yeshua sacrificed His blood so everyone’s sin may be erased, and our names stay in Your book of Life. I ask this in Yeshua’s name, amen.
Eikhah (Lamentations) 5:21
ADONAI, turn us back to you; and we will come back;
renew our days, as they were in the past—
My prayer for everyone even as I see the world descend into chaos of self-aggrandizement and self-loathing. Lord forgive us of our selfish sin and bring us back to Your love and understanding. I ask this in Yeshua’s name, amen.
