Knowing vs Trusting

John 2:23-25

23 Now while Yeshua was in Yerushalayim at the Pesach festival, there were many people who “believed in his name” when they saw the miracles he performed. 24 But he did not commit himself to them, for he knew what people are like — 25 that is, he didn’t need anyone to inform him about a person, because he knew what was in the person’s heart.

Knowing and trusting are two different things. God isn’t looking for people who know Him, He wants us to trust Him by building an intimate relationship with Him, praying, listening, and studying His Word, then acting upon all we have learned from Him. God doesn’t want scholars he wants children.

Salvation

John 1:12-13

12 But to as many as did receive him, to those who put their trust in his person and power, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 not because of bloodline, physical impulse or human intention, but because of God.

It was God’s grace that sent Yeshua to us, it is our trust and understanding in His sacrifice that removes our sin. Without God and the sacrifice of Yeshua on the stake salvation is not possible, man cannot save himself, only God can.

Forgiveness

Isaiah 58:1-7

58 Shout out loud! Don’t hold back!
Raise your voice like a shofar!
Proclaim to my people what rebels they are,
to the house of Ya‘akov their sins.
2 “Oh yes, they seek me day after day
and [claim to] delight in knowing my ways.
As if they were an upright nation
that had not abandoned the rulings of their God,
they ask me for just rulings
and [claim] to take pleasure in closeness to God,
3 [asking,] ‘Why should we fast, if you don’t see?
Why mortify ourselves, if you don’t notice?’
“Here is my answer: when you fast,
you go about doing whatever you like,
while keeping your laborers hard at work.
4 Your fasts lead to quarreling and fighting,
to lashing out with violent blows.
On a day like today, fasting like yours
will not make your voice heard on high.
5 “Is this the sort of fast I want,
a day when a person mortifies himself?
Is the object to hang your head like a reed
and spread sackcloth and ashes under yourself?
Is this what you call a fast,
a day that pleases Adonai?
6 “Here is the sort of fast I want —
releasing those unjustly bound,
untying the thongs of the yoke,
letting the oppressed go free,
breaking every yoke,
7 sharing your food with the hungry,
taking the homeless poor into your house,
clothing the naked when you see them,
fulfilling your duty to your kinsmen!”

Dear God forgive myself and my nation when we rely on the government to take care of our poor instead of us, when we ignor family for profit, and when we give lip service to You. Abba stir within us a desire to come back to You, take us once more under your wing as we seek to heal the broken around us Amen.

Beware false teaching

2 Peter 2:17-18

17 Waterless springs they are, mists driven by a gust of wind; for them has been reserved the blackest darkness. 18 Mouthing grandiosities of nothingness, they play on the desires of the old nature, in order to seduce with debaucheries people who have just begun to escape from those whose way of life is wrong.

The more I study the Word the more I find there are people who speak or write with authority but have no idea what is actually written in the Bible. These false teachers are who Kefa, Peter, is writing about, sounding like they have great insight but in truth only playing to our baser sinful nature. Sha’ul, Paul, tells us to be like the good people of Berea, comparing everything to the Word, this is how false teaching is exposed. Dear Abba let me lean always on Your Word, I ask this in Yeshua’s name, amen.

Witnessed

2 Peter 1:16-18
For when we made known to you the power and the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, we did not rely on cunningly contrived myths. On the contrary, we saw his majesty with our own eyes. For we were there when he received honor and glory from God the Father; and the voice came to him from the grandeur of the Sh’khinah, saying, “This is my son, whom I love; I am well pleased with him!” We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.

We have witnesses, unlike any other religon, who saw, experianced, and proclaimed the power of God through the testimony of Yeshua’s life and sacrifice. As believers with the unfolding of the Ruach, we have that same testimony and a duty to proclaim it. Lord strengthen me when I become too shy to share Your love, give me boldness to act for You in all things. I ask this in Yeshua’s name amen.

Judgement

1 Peter 4:17-19
17 For the time has come for the judgment to begin. It begins with the household of God; and if it starts with us, what will the outcome be for those who are disobeying God’s Good News? —
18 “If the righteous is barely delivered,
where will the ungodly and sinful end up?”
19 So let those who are suffering according to God’s will entrust themselves to a faithful Creator by continuing to do what is good.
Judgement starts with us, the body of believers. It is how we are judged and how we bear up for Adonai during that will be our witness to others. But after that woe to those who do not come to trust. Adonai Tza’vot, Lord of Host, preserve me in this time of trial because it is only with Your strength I am saved. I ask this in Yeshua’s name amen

Heart Mind and Spirit

1 Peter 1:13-16

13 Therefore, get your minds ready for work, keep yourselves under control, and fix your hopes fully on the gift you will receive when Yeshua the Messiah is revealed. 14 As people who obey God, do not let yourselves be shaped by the evil desires you used to have when you were still ignorant. 15 On the contrary, following the Holy One who called you, become holy yourselves in your entire way of life; 16 since the Tanakh says,

“You are to be holy because I am holy.”

Nothing we do as believers should be done without prayer and single minded devotion. The mind leads the heart, the heart empowers the gifts given by the Ruach HaKodesh, the Holy Spirit, the gifts show the world the love of Adonai through the sacrifice of Yeshua. Lord make me a willing vessel for You, I ask in Yeshua’s name, amen.

History repeats

2 Chronicles 32:19

19 They spoke about the God of Yerushalayim in the same way as about the gods of the other peoples of the earth, which are merely human artifacts.

The very same sin is happening today, so many people think trusting in God is something just made up and belongs in history. Still Adonai is the same as He was, is and will be, He has not changed we as a people have failed to continue to study His Word. Lord touch our hearts and lead us back to You amen.

Serving

2 Chronicles 31:20-21

20 This is what Hizkiyahu did throughout all Y’hudah. He accomplished things that were good, right and faithful before Adonai his God. 21 Every project that he undertook in order to seek his God, whether in the service of the house of God or in connection with the Torah and the mitzvot, he did with all his heart; and so he succeeded.

This is the example I must follow, doing everything for God with all that He has given me. Failure to do so is sin. Lord stengthen me and keep me in Your will, guide me so I do not stray from You. I ask this in Yeshua’s name, amen.
