With Us.

Psalm 42:9

9 (8) By day Adonai commands his grace,
and at night his song is with me
as a prayer to the God of my life.

God never leaves us. We may try to run away, deny that He exists, or replace Him with something false but He is still there. Once I realised He was always there for me His song opened in my heart letting me worship in prayer to Him.

Combat

Judges 7:19-22

19 Gid‘on and the hundred men with him arrived at the edge of the camp a little before midnight, just after they had changed the guard. They blew the shofars and broke in pieces the pitchers that were in their hands. 20 All three companies blew the shofars, broke the pitchers and held the torches in their left hands, keeping their right hands free for the shofars they were blowing; and they shouted, “The sword for Adonai and for Gid‘on!” 21 Then, as every man stood still in place around the camp, the whole camp was thrown into panic, with everyone screaming and trying to escape. 22 Gid‘on’s men blew their 300 shofars, and Adonai caused everyone in the camp to attack his comrades; and the enemy fled beyond Beit-Sheetah near Tz’rerah, as far as the border of Avel-M’cholah, by Tabat.

God fights our battles for us. Not Gid’on or one of his men raised a sword that night until it was time to mop up the remainer. They blew their shofars (trumpets from animal horns) in their right hands and held torches in their left. Adonai Tzva’ot the Lord of Host was in amongst the enemy causing confusion and destruction. This is the God we serve who fights our righteous battles for us. Praise God for our defense.

Understanding

1 Corinthians 13:12

12 For now we see obscurely in a mirror,
but then it will be face to face.
Now I know partly; then I will know fully,
just as God has fully known me.

There are many things that I see in this world that I don’t understand or understand only partially. Still Adonai has a purpose in placing these things in my life. There will be a time of complete understanding and I believe in that moment I will want to worship Adonai forever.

Meeting

1 Corinthians 9:27

27 I treat my body hard and make it my slave so that, after proclaiming the Good News to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

I find the most difficult task in showing my trust in God is denying myself. I am lazy and somewhat self centered, and I have to overcome this everyday so as to stand forth faithfully for Adonai. The first tool was studying God’s Word everyday, the next setting time aside for prayer. God is calling us to be in a relationship with Him, I pray all will take time to meet Him.

Worth

Joshua 17:14-18

14 Then the descendants of Yosef spoke to Y’hoshua; they said, “Why have you given me only one lot and only one portion to inherit? After all, I am a great people, since Adonai has blessed me so.” 15 Y’hoshua answered them, “If you are a great people, go up to the forest, and clear land for yourself there in the territory of the P’rizi and the Refa’im — since the hills of Efrayim don’t give you enough space.” 16 The descendants of Yosef replied, “The hills won’t be enough for us; and all the Kena‘ani living in the valleys have iron chariots — both those in Beit-Sh’an and its villages and those in the Yizre‘el Valley.” 17 Then Y’hoshua said to the house of Yosef, to both Efrayim and M’nasheh, “You are a great people with much power; you will not have only one lot, 18 but the hills too will be yours. Although it is a forest, you will clear it, and the resulting open land will be yours. You will drive out the Kena‘ani, even though they have iron chariots and are strong.”

Anything that is given to me has the value the giver placed on it, anything I earned has the value I put into it. The decendants of Yosef were looking for more handouts not realizing Adonai had already have them victory of the would but trust and do the work. Lord let me see all opportunities You give me and give me the discernment to execute correctly and quickly.

The Word

1 Corinthians 7:19

19 Being circumcised means nothing, and being uncircumcised means nothing; what does mean something is keeping God’s commandments.

Adonai isn’t looking for outward displays of worship that we put on like clothing, He wants a change of heart. It is with that change of heart and infilling of the Ruach HaKodesh, the Holy Spirit, that I am drawn to His Word to lead me.

Decisions

Joshua 9:14-16

14 The men sampled some of their food but didn’t seek the advice of Adonai, 15 so Y’hoshua made peace with them and made a covenant with them to spare their lives, and the leading officials of the community swore to them. 16 But three days later, after they had made the covenant with them, they heard that they were their neighbors, that they lived there with them.

This is what happens when we make decisions without God’s direction. The leaders of Israel tried to fix it by making them slave labor, but this people would be the ones to lead Israel away from Adonai and into idol worship. As a believer I must lay everything before God so as not to defile myself or corrupt others.

Waiting

Joshua 6:11-14

11 So he had the ark of Adonai make a circle around the city, going around it once; then they returned to camp and stayed in the camp. 12 The next morning Y’hoshua got up early, and the cohanim took up the ark of Adonai. 13 The seven cohanim carrying the seven shofars ahead of the ark of Adonai went on, continually blowing on their shofars, with the fighting men marching ahead of them and the rearguard following after the ark of Adonai; all the while the blowing on the shofars was incessant. 14 The second day, they went around the city once and returned to camp. They did the same for six days.

Any great move of Adonai is preceeded by a time of preparation. He tends our hearts and spirits so that we may receive more fully the blessings He has in store for us. Abba please encourage in me an attitude of expectant waiting so I will always be ready to move at Your Word. Amen.

Defense

Joshua 2:12-13

12 So, please, swear to me by Adonai that, since I have been kind to you, you will also be kind to my father’s family. Give me some evidence of your good faith, 13 that you will spare the lives of my father, mother, brothers and sisters and all who are theirs, so that we won’t be killed.”

Rachel isn’t famous for her profession or protecting two spies, but in spite of that she stood in the gap between her family and God’s people to protect them. She risked the anger and death from the king of Jericho to make sure her father’s family survives. God let me have that boldness not just for my family but for everyone you put in my life. God I don’t even know how but use me to bring life to others, Amen.

Shelter

Deuteronomy 34:12

12 Of Binyamin he said:

“Adonai’s beloved lives securely.
He protects him day after day.
He lives between his shoulders.”

What a heartening passage to know our Father in heaven thinks so much of us He holds us on His back. What safer place to be in this troubling world.
